Les Coureurs des Bois de Fort de Chartres

Les Coureurs des Bois de Fort de Chartres is a flintlock only muzzle loading gun club that meets at Fort de Chartres. We support the Fort de Chartres Historic Site through special events and interpretation. The club has been meeting exclusively at the Fort for more than 40 years.

Although some of the attire and firearms have changed since the club was founded, one thing that has not changed over four decades is our passion for black powder shooting and local history.

Unlike some similar gun clubs, Les Coureurs des Bois de Fort de Chartres has the opportunity to meet and shoot at one of the most picturesque and historically significant historic sites in the Midwest - Fort de Chartres State Historic Site.

Les Coureurs des Bois hosts several special events at the Fort, including the summer and winter rendezvous (which are two of the largest events held at the fort). We also sponsor workshops and provide countless volunteer hours at the site. Some of our members consider the fort to be their second home.

September 2015 Meeting

Membership in Les Coureurs des Bois

Les Coureurs des Bois holds a meeting and shoot on the second Sunday of every month at 1 p.m.

Anyone is welcome to participate in the shoot, but must be dressed in historic clothes and shoot a flintlock muzzleloader. If you are at all interested in black powder shooting or the history of the fort, feel free to swing by the fort on the second Sunday of the month and attend one of our meetings and shoot. We always welcome anyone who is interested no matter what someone’s experience level is.

Each month one of the club’s members hosts the shooting competition, of which prizes are given out to the top shooters. We would love to have you join us at the fort!
